Abstract: DOLOSA, JOHN VINCENT S. and JAVIER, JEN LORILIE A., Comparative Analysis on Inventory Risk Management System of Retail and Wholesale-Retail Rice Enterprises in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Ms. Mary Joyce P. Alcazar. A study was conducted to evaluate the inventory risk management strategy of retail rice enterprises against wholesale-retail rice enterprises. The profile of the participating rice enterprises: company name, years in business, number of employees, net income, and business classification were gathered to identify the current status of rice enterprises in Cavite. The participating rice enterprises were eighty-four (84) rice retailers and eleven (11) rice wholesale-retailers from the municipality of Tanza and the cities of Bacoor, Dasmarinas, and Imus. A survey questionnaire was used to evaluate the inventory risk management strategies, and risks being encountered by different rice enterprises in Cavite. Independent t-test was used for the analysis of the inventory risk management strategy employed by the two classifications of rice enterprises. The result of the independent t-test analysis showed that wholesale-retail rice enterprises give more emphasis and consideration in conducting a regular physical inventory of rice stocks compared to retail rice enterprises. Significant differences between the classifications of rice enterprises were also found in terms of the strategy involving the use of statistical formulas for accurate sales/inventory forecast. Similarly, significant differences between the classifications of rice enterprises were also found in terms of the strategy where previous records/data of the inventory were considered and used as basis for the next inventory capacity. On the other hand, no significant differences between the classifications of rice enterprises were found in terms of the strategies involving maintenance of inventory items in a secure location and protection of rice goods from the elements of rain, wind, and sun. Correspondingly, no significant differences between the classifications of rice enterprises were found in terms of the strategies concerning the organization of the rice inventory supply, ensuring of sales invoice, delivery receipt, cash receipt issuance and matching of purchase orders with sales invoices. Likewise, no significant differences between the classifications of rice enterprise were found in terms of the inspection and counting of materials in the course of collection, automatic reordering of quantities, appointment of personnel is that will be responsible for monitoring the inventory of rice sacks, and matching of physically counted items with the inventory records. Lastly, no significant difference concerning the classification of rice enterprise were found in terms of the strategy having a list of possible alternative suppliers and depiction of possible root-causes of encountered excess or obsolete inventory stocks.
