Abstract: MOSQUEDA, DIENO P. and REYES, KENATH PAUL C. Design, Construction and Evaluation of a Low-Cost Motor-Generator Trainer. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. 2016. Adviser: Engr. Efren R. Rocillo. A study was conducted to produce a low-cost motor-generator trainer. The study was conducted from December 2015 to September 2016 at Cavite State University, Indang Cavite to incorporate the education acquired in the program of BS Electrical Engineering. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1. design and construct the casing of the motor-generator trainer; 2. design and construct the different parts and accessories of the trainer; 3. Assemble the motor-generator trainer; 4. develop an operational manual for the motor-generator trainer; 5. develop laboratory activities for the motor-generator trainer; 6. test and evaluate the performance of the trainer; and 6. conduct a cost computation. The trainer showed the basic principles and operations of different type generators and motors. Following the laboratory experiments’ connections and instruction will lead to creating different types of motors and generators. The trainer is composed of different parts; the connection board, the motor- generator assembly, and the driving unit. The device can be operated using a 220-230 volts, single phase, 60 hertz supply. The study meet all the objectives and it was made as an instructional material for DC and AC machinery. The trainer’s total cost is P 11,169.00 and based on the results of the evaluation through the given evaluation forms, the trainer gain a 4.40 over-all mean and rated as very good. Based on the respondents’ response to the trainer through the forms that had been given by the researchers, the trainer will be a good instructional material for the subject AC and DC machinery.
