Abstract: DE LEON, JEAN MARTIN A. and LACERNA, MARK KEVIN B. DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CELLPHONE CHARGING STATION WITH MICROCONTROLLER BASED BIOMETRIC LOCK SYSTEM. Undergraduate Design Project, Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2012, Adviser: Engr. Michael T. Costa. The Design and Construction of a Cellphone Charging Station with Microcontroller Based Biometric Lock System was conducted from October 2011 to May 2012. The general objective of the design was to design and construct a microcontroller based biometric compartment lock system for a cellphone charging station. Specifically, it aimed to design a system that would accept fingerprints and five-peso coins to activate secured charging vaults. It also aimed to test and evaluate the design and provide a cost benefit analysis for the project. The system used two PIC16F877A microcontrollers for the charging system and for biometric module control. The designers used Proton Generator Software using PIC Basic Programming Language to manipulate and control the microcontroller. The design project was tested and evaluated at the laboratories of the College of Engineering and Information Technology. User acceptance test and pilot testing were done at the lobby of Engineering Science Building and Information Technology Building respectively. Test results satisfied the standards set by the designers. The total cost of the design was Php 47, 210 with a payback period of a month to almost about two months.
