Abstract: CANEO, CHARISH Z., COSTOSA, MARLYN P. and DE GRANO, EDEN G., Application of Cognitive Ergonomics on the Design and Development of Directory System for Car Care Services. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2019. Adviser: Dr. Willie C. Buclatin. The study entitled "Application of Cognitive Ergonomics on the Design and Development of Directory System for Car Care Services" was proposed with the aim of providing emergency road side assistance services and in consideration of reducing time spent in searching the service provider. The Viaje directory system application meant to make all possible efforts to locate and direct the nearest service provider to user's location. The directory system application also helps user to find nearby service centers as well as the fuel stations in case of emergency situations like insufficient fuel on vehicles and un-avoided incidents like puncture, break failure, and doping. The precise locations with the distance from the user's place with the directions using Google Maps lets the user know with ease in accessing with the help of this application on the user's smart mobiles. On the other hand, this study aimed primarily to: I.) apply the cognitive ergonomics on the design and development of directory system for car care services in Cavite; 2.) determine the present system used for car care services; 3.) identify the problems that arise in the present system for car care services; 4.) analyze possible features to be included in the ergonomically designed directory system for car care services; 5.) design ergonomically the system for car care services and 6.) evaluate of the ergonomically designed directory system application for car care services. Six Sigma tool, Define-Measure-Analyze-Design-Verify tool was utilized as a research method. Also, the use of Agile methodology was also considered in the development of the system. Yes or no version of a survey instrument was used in the preliminary survey wherein 100 drivers and owners in selected municipalities of Cavite were asked to answer the said survey. Based on the result, it was found out that a conventional way of asking assistance to service provider was the present system. In addition, there were underlying problems existed. Among those problems, the inadequate information has the highest occurrences of frequency with 560 occurrences, (46.05%). This served as the main problem, however, the researchers decided to include the security problem, with respect to business owners. Also, ergonomics criteria were also considered in the design features to satisfy the objectives of the study. In the evaluation of the system application, it was observed that the directory system application earned positive responses. The set of criteria namely Functionality, Reliability, Usability, Efficiency, Maintainability, Portability and Ergonomic criteria of software application got an excellent result or feedback from the respondents. Moreover, the researchers recommend the following for further improvement of the system application: 1.) more features like weather reports, and availability of ambulance services should be added; 2.) more inputs like towing company and insurance company should be considered; 3.) in other technologies like iOS and windows should be installed; 4.) the covered area of the directory system application should be broadened to reach other users; and lastly 5.) adding of booking process in design features for the users should be done to allow them to arrange schedules.
