Abstract: ASUNCION, J-CLAIRE D., EROLES, ELAINE JOYCE V. Love Will Keep Us Alive: Expectations and Life Experiences of Married Couples. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State, University, Indang, Cavite. April 2017. Thesis Adviser: Ms. Mary Sol A. Abad. This study was conducted from September 2016 to April 2017 at Magallanes, Cavite to find out the expectations and life experiences of married couples for 25 - 40 years living together. Purposive sampling was used in choosing participants of the study. Specifically, the study aimed to (1) identify the couple's description of their life after getting married; (2) identify the struggles and triumphs of married couples; and (3) determine the expectations of married couples towards married life. The researchers adopted the interpretative phenomenological analysis and qualitative approach to research. In this study, interview guide was utilized as the main research instrument. There are common life experiences, expectations, struggles and triumphs in a relationship and it occurs normally. The results revealed that love is something that keep their relationship stronger and lasting and it is evident among the married couples interviewed having God centered relationship. There may be no perfect way of keeping the marriage stronger and lasting but in their own as of handling the problems they encountered, they made their relationship stronger. They give importance with the sanctity of marriage and nothing, according to them can keep them apart. Love, faith, respect, patience, understanding and trust were the factors that keep the relationship of the married couples lasting. Holding on to their perspective about marriage leads the married couples to a better and good relationship. They keep remembering their perspectives and their promises to one another. With God in the center of their relationship, with the help of their family and their love to each other, they overcome every struggles that passed. Building their marriage with a strong foundation leads them to a better relationship today in the future.
