Perceptions of the Management among Selected Plastic Manufacturing Companies towards the Effects of the Proposed Senate Bill no. 2759 “Total Plastic Bag Ban Act of 2011”. | Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Ms. Mary Joyce P. Alcazar. This study covers the perceptions of the management among selected plastic manufacturing companies towards the effects of the proposed Senate Bill no. 2759 “Total Plastic Bag Ban Act of 2011”. Specifically, this study assessed the perception of the management towards the effects of the proposed Senate Bill and aimed to: (a) evidently determine various effects of the proposed Senate Bill No. 2759 in selected plastic manufacturing companies in terms of sales, production, employment and competitors; (b) determine if the effects of the proposed Senate Bill No. 2759 has significant relationship to the improvement of company’s productivity situation, profit generation, manpower deployment and future plans and investment; and (c) substantially form recommendations as conveyed by the assessed effects of the proposed Senate Bill No. 2759 in selected plastic manufacturing companies. The study used quantitative design to the perceptions of the management among selected plastic manufacturing companies towards the effects of the proposed Senate Bill No. 2759. The study specifically used descriptive-correlational method, a method that was used to describe, interpret, analyze and compare or correlate the variables. The researchers prepared a questionnaire for the 25 management personnel from two selected plastic manufacturing companies namely Calypso Plastic Center and Artpack Philippines to be able to gather some information about the research. The results of the study show that the impact of the proposed Senate Bill distressed the sales, production, employment and competitors of the company. They lost some of their customers and sales partners, experienced large stocks of plastic bags and the demands of their products decreased; they reduced the production of their product, experienced down time and lowered the number of products being produced; and they terminated some of its staff because they often experienced longer idle time and some employees were involuntary to leave the production area. The findings of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between the various effects of the proposed Senate Bill No. 2759 in selected plastic manufacturing companies in terms of its sales, production, employment and competitors and the company’s productivity situation, profit generation, manpower deployment and future plans and investments. The study resulted to a strong positive correlation, which suggests that the more the effects of the proposed said bill, the more their company’s situation will be affected. | |
