Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Engr. Efren R. Rocillo. A study on self-looped motor-generator system was conducted from December 2015 to June 2016 at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to incorporate the education acquired in the program of Electrical Engineering. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1. determine the size of the motor to be used; 2. determine the size of the generator to be used that is suitable for the system; 3. design the switching circuit of the system; 4.assembly of the system; 5. test and evaluate the system; and 6. conduct cost computation. The study covered the provision and construction of the self-looped motor- generator system to be evaluated, which includes an AC motor, AC generator, inverter, battery, battery charger and a charge controller. The test and evaluation of the system were done by acquiring the following parameters, 610 W input power of the motor and 3600 average rpm of the generator with 58.08 Hz to 60.53 Hz output frequency. In addition with the evaluation, the maximum output power of loads was determined and limited to 33 W. Overall, the system produced a total output of 138 W that leads to 22.6 percent efficiency. According to the results of the study, the proponents recommended other researchers to initiate further studies on enhancing the system connection that improves the system efficiency and prolong the operating time of the generator system. The total cost of the study was Php 40,779.00.
