Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Operations Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, May 2017. Adviser: Prof. Mary Grace A. Ilagan. This study was conducted to determine the student expectation and satisfaction in the facility management practices of hoarding houses in selected areas of Cavite. It aimed to determine the following: (1) socio-demographic profile of the student boarders in selected area of Cavite, (2) the facilities and amenities included on the students’ current accommodation, (3) the reasons why students decided to occupy boarding houses, (4) the Students’ expectation towards facility management of the boarding houses, (5) the level of satisfaction of students toward the facility management of boarding house, (6) the facility management-related problems encountered by the student boarders in their current accommodation, (7) ascertain if there is a significant relationship between socio-demographic profile and expectation, (8) ascertain if there is a significant relationship between expectation and satisfaction, (9) ascertain if there is a significant difference between the students’ expectation and satisfaction when they are grouped based on socio- demographic characteristics and (10) propose improvements that would contribute to the achievement of better facility management. The participants of the study were 385 student boarders with ages 17 years old and above from selected areas of Cavite namely: Indang, Silang and Dasmarinas City. A questionnaire was used to gather data from the participants. Mean, frequency count, percentage and standard deviation were used to describe the profile, the level of satisfaction and expectations of the borders, the reasons of their availability, the problems they encountered and the facilities and amenities included in the students current accommodation of the participants of this study. Five- point Likert Scale was also used to measure the level of expectation and satisfaction of the student boarders. In determining the relationship between the demographic profile and expectation, demographic profile and satisfaction and the relationship of satisfaction and expectations of the student boarders Spearman’s rank, Point Biserial, and Chi- square tests were used. In addition, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney tests were used to determine the significant difference between the satisfaction and expectation when group based on demographic profile of the student boarders. The relationship of socio-demographic characteristics to student boarder’s expectation towards facility management, only age had a significant relationship on expectation of the student boarders. On the other hand, the relationship of the student expectation to their level of satisfaction towards facility management practices reveals that expectation had a significant relationship to satisfaction. Lastly, differences on the level of expectation and satisfaction based on the participant’s socio-demographic characteristics, as the result of the study the level of expectation was not found to be significantly different based on other variables tested such as sex, year level and amount of monthly rent. And differences on the level of satisfaction were not found to be significantly different based on the student’s year level.
