520 3 _aDESCARTIN, HANA PEARL A. and LUCEROS, JEROME CEGUIA A. Assessment of the Water Supply System in Silang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Dr. Leyma L. Cero The study was conducted from October 2016 to March 2017. Specifically, it aimed to assess the functional elements of the water supply system, assess the present demand of water in the supply system, project the future water demand of the service area of the water supply system in the next 10 years, and determine the physical, chemical and bacteriological properties of the water supplied to the consumers. The water supply system of Silang has four functional elements, namely: source, storage, treatment and distribution. Groundwater and springs are the main source of water with a combined capacity of 1,276,543.58 cu m/ month or 42,551.45 cu m/day. Only the Lucsuhin and Batas Pump Station obtained their water from springs. Water flows directly to distribution pipes. In the year 2016, the entire service area has a total water demand of 24,616,079.23 L/day with over 34,396 residential and government and 1,405 commercial establishments connections. The present water supply is still sufficient for 2016 until 2024, but for the succeeding years it will not be enough to meet the demand of increasing population assuming that the discharge of the sources remains the same. The physical, chemical and biological water properties that are supplied in Silang, Cavite passed the limit requirements of the Philippine National Standards Drinking Water (PNSDW).
