Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. April 2005. Adviser: Mr. Bienvenido Sarmiento C. Jr. The design and evaluation of microcontroller-based cabinet dryer was constructed at Dasmaritias, Cavite. The general objective of the study was to develop and construct a functional microcontroller-based cabinet dryer. The existing cabinet dryer is the hardware of the system. It also includes the blower that helped to regulate the temperature inside the dryer, the heater that was responsible for the changes in temperature inside the dryer, a buzzer that indicated the end of the drying process, the circuit that contained the programmed PIC 16F788 which controlled the operation of the whole system, a keypad, an input device that was used to select crops, and the Liquid Cathode Display (LCD) which is an output device that displayed the status of the drying process. Assembly language was the language used to create the software of the system. The software simplified and linked the work of microcontroller and user. It instructed the microcontroller to control the whole system. The system was evaluated at the Institute of Food Science and Technology, with the design adviser and technical critic on February 7 to 9 2005. During the evaluation three replications were made based on the drying time and drying rate. Results showed that the drying rate was acceptable since the crop obtained an average of 0.357 percent per minute with a drying time of 177.67 minutes. After the evaluation the study was found to be satisfactory. | ||
