520 3 _a VILLEGAS, JAYSA LOREN O. Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) Production Enterprise Grown Organically. Enterprise Development Project. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship major in Crop Production. Cavite State University, 1ndang Cavite. April 2018: Adviser: Dr. Adelaida E. Sangalang. The project was conducted at the Crop Development Project under the supervision of the Office of the Business Affair (OBA) at Cavite State University-Main Campus), Indang, Cavite. In general, the Enterprise Development Project aimed to apply the knowledge and skills for the production of coriander grown organically. It specifically aimed to: (1) gain profit in the production of coriander; (2) determine the profitability of coriander production; (3) and experience the actual production of coriander. The project was laid out in 12 plots and planted with coriander. Coriander was chosen because it is a heat loving and best where the climate is hot and humid with full sun. Also, it contains fiber, iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin A, C, E, and K. The project was operated as a sole proprietorship type of business. Production activities include cleaning of the area, lay-outing, preparation of plots, application of vermicast, direct planting of seeds, application of rice hull, and powdered charcoal, placing of bamboo sticks, applying vermi tea and seaweed extract, watering, weeding, harvesting and post-harvest handling, sorting, packaging and marketing. The production area was cultivated and prepared manually by hoeing and raking. Applications of vermi tea and seaweed extract were done once a week in the whole production after direct planting of coriander seeds. Watering was done every day using a sprinkler to ensure the optimum amount of soil moisture. One kilogram of coriander was sold in a retail price of P 300 to Cavite State University faculty members, staff, students and guards to gain higher income. On the other hand, the other harvested coriander plants were sold at the price of P 195 per kg. The entrepreneur encountered some problems that affected the quantity and quality of coriander plants. Though, it did not cause the entrepreneur to lose hope by doing immediate controlled management strategies. The operation cost for the entire 3 months period of coriander (Coriandrum sativum) production enterprise grown organically was P 24,478.65 with the net income of P 31,251.35 and the return on investment 127.67 percent.
