520 3 _aGAN, KIM ROSEBERT T. and MATIAG, JOHN LIENALD M. Improvement of Dual Overhead Camshaft Electronic Fuel Injected Engine Mock-up. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial 'technology, major in Automotive Technology Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite Adviser: Prof Danielito R. Escano. Toyota 4A-GE, is one of the engine of a with a vehicle four cylinder double overhead camshaft electronic fuel injected engine which was designed by the "Toyota Motor Corporation that provide decent power and torque installed in the light driving vehicle. The engine can be utilized for enhancement of skills, and techniques of the learners of Automotive Section under the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology. The design project aimed to improve, re-design and reconstruct a dual overhead electronic fuel injected engine mock-up to be used for hands-on activities of the learners. The structure of the design project was retained from its original size which was 47"x35"x18". The ignition coil convert to individual ignition coil per cylinder which is connected to igniter and the ECU of the engine wherein the source of electricity originated. The ECU served as the brain of the engine and control the whole system of the engine. The wiring system was re-arrange and tucked together to make the wiring system much presentable than previously and help the learners to understand easy the flow of the wiring system. Additionally, the cam gear cover was replaced and make it transparent to visualize the revolution of the cam gear and timing belts of the system. The design project is the transformation of ignition coil to individual ignition coil per cylinder. The individual ignition coil varies very different with that of the replaced ordinary coil. Changing ignition coils to individual ignition coils per cylinder will result to an engine with strong source of power that will lead to more effective and efficient engine. The performance of fuel efficiency of the en vine is now lesser consumption from previous consumption since the designed project ‘,%a converted into individual coil .As well as, the engine performance was much better because based from the observation the chance of engine misfire was reduced and it can deliver better voltage output per cylinder, It was proven that the individual ignition had much electricity produced, so the authors installed a waste spark by means of using another high tension wire With a spark plug. An additional features of the design project is cam gear cover which was replaced and made transparent The clear cam gear cover was now' made from polycarbonate materials which was durable and through the use of this the student can ‘visualize how the timing bell move the camshafts and crankshaft. The study was proven and tested by the evaluators, instructors and students that it is more efficient and use for their functionality. The statement was based to the result of the evaluation which got overall average of 4.72 with a corresponding degree level of outstanding. This means that the design project was in a good condition and met the overall objectives of the research.
