520 3 _aARLAY, IRIS JENICA R. and FERAER, JOHN JOSEPH A. Development of Orbital Shaker for Micro-Propagation. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electronics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Ms. Ma. Fatima B. Zufliga. The study was conducted from January 2018 to April 2018 at Brgy. Halayhay, Tanza, Cavite to develop an orbital shaker for micro — propagation to help the Research Center of Cavite State University to lessen their expenses instead of purchasing the same device which is not available for minimal usage. Specifically, it aimed to design the orbital shaker for micro — propagation, fabricate the casing of design project, construct the design project, test the performance of the orbital shaker, and evaluate the design project in terms of functionality, aesthetics, workability, durability, economy and safety. The design project parts are the motor to rotate the platform; the button pad to input preferred settings for time and speed; the microcontroller circuit that controls the time and speed the system would operate; and the LCD display that shows the inputted settings. This paper presents the innovative combination of speed and time control in an orbital shaker. Microcontroller serves as an important role in the design project. It uses Arduino Nano 328. The servo motor is controlled by microcontroller. The function is to move the platform attached in an orbital shaker. The motion of this platform is orbital motion. The design project only rotates clockwise. The orbital shaker can hold up to 1.5kg-cm of load. The design project is come-up with 12 V and 2A power supply separated in design project. After the evaluation conducted in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology (DIET) by Electronics Technology students, Electrical Technology students, Industrial Engineering students and instructors, the overall computed mean based on the result of the evaluation garnered a 4.58 with a descriptive rating of outstanding. This result shows that the project is highly acceptable by the different evaluators meeting quality expectation.
