"GROWTH RESPONSE OF BLACK PEPPER CUTTINGS AS AFFECTED BY ITS SOURCE AND DIFFERENT LEVEL OF INDOLE BUTYRIC ACID". ADVISER: MR. EPIFANIO H. FERAER The study was conducted at the researcher's residence in Tambo Balagbag, Indang, Cavite from October 1, 1989 to December 16, 1989, to find out if the level of concentration of Indole Butyric Acid and the source of cuttings used has significant effect on the percentage survival of black pepper cuttings. Randomized complete black design with five (5) Main plots and three (3) sub-plots was used in the computation of the test of significance of the study. The five main plots are the level of concentration of IBA as; 100 ppm IBA; 75 ppm IBA; 50 ppm IBA; 25 ppm IBA; and the control. The sub-plot is the source of cuttings as: Top cuttings; middle cuttings; and base cuttings. The use of 100 ppm IBA concentration shows to give the highest percentage germination, number of roots produce, longest roots, and the highest number of shoots formed, it also gave the lowest number of days from planting to shoot formation. Middle cuttings however, produce the best results as far as the source of cuttings is concerned. Middle cutting produce the highest percentage survival, longest roots, highest number of shoots formed and highest number of roots. | |
