Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. February 2019. Adviser: Mary Jane A. Amparo, MAEd. The research was conducted to determine if the attitude towards interracial dating can be influenced by socioeconomic status and level of openness to diversity of 200 young adult Filipino women residing in Cavite. It identified the socioeconomic status, level of openness to diversity and attitude towards interracial dating of the participants and determined if the level of attitude towards interracial dating is correlated to socioeconomic status and level of openness to diversity. The research also identified if socioeconomic status and openness to diversity can predict attitude towards interracial dating. The results showed that most of the participants here under the socioeconomic classification of Class C, had high level of openness to diversity, and found interracial dating as favorable. It was found out that that the socioeconomic status and the attitude towards interracial dating of the participants are positively correlated. In addition, their openness to diversity and attitude towards interracial dating are also positively correlated. The researchers found out that socioeconomic status and openness to diversity are good predictors of attitude towards interracial dating suggesting that the higher the socioeconomic status, the more favorable the interracial relationship is to young adult Filipino women and the higher the level of openness to diversity, the more favorable interracial relationship is to young adult Filipino women as well. Results also suggested there may be reasons other than wealth and other economic matters that Filipino women date men from other races so women especially those with less stable backgrounds are more careful of being involved in interracial relationships. | |
