Backyard hog production was conducted at Barangay Calumpang Cerca, Indang, Cavite from January 11, 2018 to April 11, 2018. The project aimed to expose the student entrepreneur in actual hog fattening; acquire additional skills in swine production; and determine the profitability of raising swine. The hog fattening project used four piglets that were purchased from Cathay Farm. The average weight of the piglets was 14 kg. The feeds were bought from Indang, Cavite For the first month, the stocks consumed 200 kg of hog starter pellet which amounted to P 5,740. They also consumed 550 kg of hog grower pellet which amounted to P 15,015. After 90 days of rearing, the stocks obtained an average live weight of 82.13 kg, with an average daily gain of 754 g per day. The hogs consumed an average of 187.5 kg of feeds per head, giving a feed conversion ratio of 2.75. A total of P 36,389 was used for buying stocks, feeds, medicine and other inputs used in the operation.
