520 3 _aThe project was conducted in Lumipa, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite from August 1984 to February 19850 the project aimed to conduct and establish inβ€” come generating project and to demonstrate the ability of the Student Outreach Agent (SOA) to put into actual practice the theoretical knowledge on crop production. A 7,500 square meter field was utilized for this project. The activities starter by plowing and harrowing the field two times alternately, Only well selected and viable seeds were used in planting. The seeds were sown in seed boxes or seedbeds about 25β€”30 days in advance of planting in the field. The seed boxes or seedbeds were prepared in shallow furrows about 15 centimeters apart. The seeds were sown thinly and evenly into the shallow furrows, covered with fine soil and watered. Transplanting of tomato seedlings was done three weeks after germination, Planting of bush sitao was done-on September 15, 1984, the seeds of bush sitao were drilled in the furrows with three to four seeds per hill spaced 50 centimeters between the rows and 30 centimeters between hills 0 Complete fertilizer (14β€”14β€”14) was applied one weeks after planting the seeds of bush sitao by broadcast method Occurrence of pest and diseases on tomato and observed one month after transplanting, on bush sitao, 20 days after planting. Plants were sprayed with Sevin at the rate of two to three tablespoonfuls per gallon of water at two weeks interval. Harvesting of tomato was done when the plants reached the several stages of maturity, depending upon how they are marketed or used. While in bush sitao, crops were harvested when the plants reached the marketable size and showed signs of maturity. The total yield obtained in 7,500 square meter land was 396 kilograms of tomato and 355 kilograms of bush sitao which were sold in wholesale basis at the amount of 72,826.500 After subtracting the total expenses of 71,550 from the total return of the project gave a net income of 71,296.50.
