| 520 | 3 | _aThe project "Intercropping Corn with Kungou was conducted at Lumampong Balagbag, Indang, Cavite Purpose-ly to apply the technology of intercropping corn with mungo and to help increase income of small farmers in the locality. A 1,500 so meter field was thoroughly plowed and harrowed three times with a weekly interval for every operation to ensure good tilth. Glutinous White Corn Variety and Mungo GES were used. Three corn seeds were sown 75 centimeters between rows and 25 centimeters apart between hills and later thinned to only two plants per hill. Likewise, two to three mungo seeds were drilled at 30 centimeters between hills. Fertilizer applications were done two times. The first was basal application of complete fertilizer at the rate of 200 kilograms per hectare. Second application of Urea fertilizer was done 30 days after planting at the rate of 90 kilograms per hectare. The plants were kept free from weeds throughout the growing period. Harvesting was done manually on both crops. Corn was harvested 30-35 days after planting as green corn. | |
