This experiment was conducted from October 1989 to February 1990 at the Don Severino Agricultural College experimental field to study the effect of chicken manure to the growth and yield of sunflower. An area of 280 square meters was divided into four blocks and further subdivided into five plots. There were five treatments used with four replications each. The plots were distributed at a randomized complete block design arrangement. Direct planting of sunflower seeds was made. Germination was noticed 5 days after planting and was completed 7 days after. The salient results of the study were as follows: Chicken manure applied at planting time at the rate of 0.6 to 2.4 kg/sq.m. Significantly increased the height, number of leaves, branches, flower, weight of seeds and percentage of filled seed at maturity. With the above results it is advisable to apply chicken manure at the time of planting from 0.6 to 2.4 kg/sq.m.to increase yield of sunflower provided that it is properly decomposed.
