520 3 _a MARACE, KAREN, PARAGAS, JOANNA V., AND ROSETE, JESSICA C. Sustainable Development Goals: Local Awareness and SDG Development Priorities in the City of Bacoor, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Development Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. August 2022. Adviser: Ms. Glenda Sullano-Peña The study was conducted from October to November 2021 in the 73 barangays of Bacoor City, Province of Cavite, to determine how the SDGs are incorporated to the local development plans to respond to the barangay development needs and priorities. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the socio-demographic profile of the participants, identify the participant's level of SDG awareness and the level of SDG development priorities and corresponding SDGs, analyze the relationship between level of awareness and level of development priorities and create an intervention plan to improve or accelerate SDG implementation. The participants of the study were the barangay officials that are currently in position in the 73 barangays of Bacoor City, Cavite. This study used descriptive correlational methods to describe the condition of SDG implementation and determine if the variables correlate with each other. Surveys and interviews were done to gather the necessary data and statistical tools such as frequency-percentage distribution, weighted arithmetic mean, and spearman rank correlation were used to address the research problems and analyze the objectives of the study. Stratified sampling technique was used to select the 280 participants of this study. The results showed that the majority of the officials belong to the older age bracket 56 years and above and had attained college level education. It was also revealed that most of the participants are newly elected for about 1-3 years but are still highly aware and informed on the 2030 Agenda. The participants appeared to have sufficient knowledge on SDGs through SDG seminars and workshops which made them incorporate SDGs to their Barangay Development Plans (BDP) for about three. to four years. Social development is the top priority sector wherein education, peace and security and equality are the main priorities. Meanwhile, economic concerns on health, food security and poverty eradication and environment issues particularly waste management, and climate change and disaster risk reduction were also prioritized. In general, several interventions were implemented to support the attainment of their top priority goals SDG 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13 and 16. It was also found that general and specific knowledge on SDG is significant on the participants' social and environmental priorities which reject the null hypothesis (there is no significant relationship between the variables) of the study. VM1ile, the priority for the economic sector shows no significance to the participants' general and specific SDG awareness, thus accepting the null hypothesis. Moreover, the existing capabilities and external factors also show no significant relationship with their level of priority in the economic and environmental sectors, thus null hypothesis is accepted whereas the social sector appears to be significant which reject the null hypothesis. The overall findings of the study showed the barangay officials are highly aware of the SDGs and incorporated it in their BDP to address their local needs and priorities. However, there are some concerns observed in the study that hinder fullest achievement of the SDGs in Bacoor. Therefore, this study recommend that initiatives to support and train the officials should be provided to help them enhance their capacity to foster sustainable development. To the City Mayor's Office, bringing back the SDG focal persons and committee in every barangay to guide the officials is highly recommended. Furthermore, it was suggested that there should be collective efforts from all institutions and a timely monitoring and evaluation of every SDG intervention to accurately measure and report the progress made towards the achievement of SDGs.
