A Case Analysis on Political Corruption Among the Marcos Political Clan and Its Impact on the Accountability of Public Officials in the Philippines. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Russel Philip B. Nuestro. The objectives of the study were to determine: (1) the types of political corruption committed by the Marcos political clan based on the Sandiganbayan court decisions and PCGG reports; (2) how Marcos Family considered as a political clan in the Philippine government; (3) how Marcos political clan committed political corruption; and (4) how political corruption committed by the Marcos political clan affected the accountability of public officials in the Philippines. The researchers focused on the analysis on political corruption among the Marcos political clan and its impact on the accountability of public officials in the Philippines. They started to conduct a textual analysis from the month of September 2021 until June 2022. The researchers used different collected data from Sandiganbayan court decisions, PCGG reports, and Masaki Yokoyama documents retrieved by Former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno. Qualitative research was used by the researchers to answer the objectives of the study. On the other hand, a literature review and textual analysis were used for the analysis of the collected data that gathered in the study. The study shown that the Marcos political clan was involved in several corruption practices while holding public office in the government. It was proven based on the presented documents in the results and discussions and in the findings of the study that they obtained ill-gotten wealth through the commission of political corruption which also resulted an impact on their accountability as public officials. Furthermore, their family continuously holds public office in the local and national government all over the years and until this time despite their unrecovered ill-gotten wealth and other pending civil and criminal cases.
