520 3 _a FERNANDEZ, ZYRENE G. and SEVILLA, ANGELYN S. An Application of Lean Six Sigma to ER Tiles Mini Depot Inc. System. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2020. Adviser: Engr. Dina P. Bawag. The research was carried out to make changes that would both reduce and add value to the merchandising business, ER Tiles Mini Depot Inc. Due to serious competition in the ceramic merchandising sector, the company must seek ways to maintain its top performance and service quality. DMAIC approach (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) was utilized since the study's goal was to improve the existing process. The define phase comprises identifying the challenges that are faced in the company. The problems were detected in the company through interviews and observation. The problems were verified by conducting a direct observation. During the measure phase, critical components of the present process were defined to acquire valid data for comparison with future findings. The fishbone diagram was employed to determine the root causes of the problems. The improve phase seeks to implement and apply the proposals created using the tools and processes. The control phase is primarily concerned with monitoring the solutions that have been implemented. Based on the results, the study shows that ER Tiles Mini Depot Inc's defect counts decreased over two weeks of implementing the 5S approach and proposed flow process chart. Aside from that, material handling in the company also improved. The data shows that the researchers obtained 54 percent of the effectiveness of implementing the 5S method and proposed flow chart in terms of minimizing defects in ER Tiles Mini Depot Inc. To control and maintain the improvements, an action plan and control chart were provided in this study to achieve continuous improvement in the company. The researchers were also able to provide recommendations to the company.
