April 2008 The study aimed to determine the relationship of gender to the perceived parenting style and determine the relationship of perceived parenting style to the coping style of the respondents in Amadeo, Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to (1.) determine the gender of the respondents. (2) determine the perceived parenting style applied among the respondents in terms of: (a) Authoritative, (b) Permissive, and (c) Democratic. (3.) determine the coping style of the respondents in terms of: (a) Problem-focused, and (b) Emotion-focused of the respondents. (4.) determine if there is a significant relationship between gender and perceived parenting style of the respondents. (5.) determine if there is a significant relationship between parenting style and coping style. Descriptive-Correlational and computed chi-square were used in this study to determine the relationship and to analyze the data of the study. Survey form of questionnaire was used to supplement the gathered data. The respondents of the study yielded a total of 292 adolescents from Amadeo, Cavite. Based on the study conducted, respondents perceived their parents as democratic and found out that respondents cope with in problem-focused way. The result of computed chi-square shows that there is no significant relationship between gender and perceived parenting style and there is no significant relationship between perceived parenting style and coping style of the respondents. While the result of computed chi-square between gender and coping style shows that there is relationship between the two variables.
