Cavite State University. April 2011. Adviser: Prof. Cecilia T. Cayao. The field study was conducted at Makati Development Corporation in Alabang, Muntinlupa City from November 22, 2010 to February 14, 2011 to expose the author to the different management operations of the firm and to develop her personality in the workplace. Specifically, it aimed to provide the necessary information about the firm, determine the existing procedures used by the Procurement Department in purchasing materials and services for the company projects; identify the problems encountered by the firm and recommend feasible solutions to the problems identified. All data were gathered through observations in the company, personal interviews with some of the employees in the Purchasing Department, research from the records of the firm, and from the company website, www.mdc.com.ph. Makati Development Corporation is one of the leading construction companies in the country. It is the construction subsidiary of Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) and tasked with the special role of preserving Ayala’s prestige in the community by ensuring timely completion of projects, quality of products and services, and cost savings. MDC provides one-stop construction for clients — that is, handling the project from conceptualization to post delivery. The field study focused on the procedures used by the firm in purchasing the materials and services for the company projects. Included in the daily activities of the author during her stay in the firm were encoding the data of Request for Purchase Order Preparation (RPOP) / Request for Bidcom Resolution (RBR) and updating its status, filing the RPOP / RBR, sorting of Purchase Orders (PO), and receiving the sealed bid proposals from the clients. | |
