520 3 _aBORRES, JHONN PATRICK F. Design of Retaining Wall Beside Gentree Villas River at Barangay Pasong Kawayan 1, General Trias, Cavite. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. April 2023. Adviser: Engr. Renato B. Cubilla Cantilever retaining walls are a common solution for holding back soil or other materials on slopes. They are characterized by their balanced base and leveraged design, which allows them to resist lateral soil pressures and forces without the need for external bracing. These walls are often used in the construction of highway embankments, bridge abutments, and other infrastructure projects, and can be made from a variety of materials, including concrete, masonry, and steel. Despite their versatility and effectiveness, it is important to carefully design cantilever retaining walls to ensure their stability and longevity. This includes considering factors such as the type and condition of the soil, the height and width of the wall, and the forces acting on the wall. Developing a design project of a retaining wall beside of the subdivision of Gentree Villas River at Barangay Pasong Kawayan l, General Trias, Cavite and was conducted September 2021 to January 2023. Generally, the study aimed to develop a design of cantilever retaining wall, built using reinforced concrete that resist lateral pressure of soil to prevent soil erosion and flood from the riverside using the parameters, standards and specification being used by the Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippine Bureau of Design and AASHTO.The Development of the retaining wall at riverside is to be helpful of the resident nearby at the location of the project which will provide a safe pathway of the residents and fisherman beside the river. The design of developing this retaining wall features the use of complete alternative process of designing a retaining wall, due to the pandemic. The alternative process uses GPS technology to locate and provide some necessary data to be used in a road and structure design software.
