520 | 3 | _aABSTRACT Fifty day-old Muscovy ducklings of both sexes were randomly divided into two groups to determine their performance in terms of average weekly gain, feed intake, and feed efficiency. The feeds given were chick starter mash for lot 1 which was the control, and chick starter mash, skim milk and soluble vitamins for lot II, the experimental. Both groups were provided with yellow corn on the last week of feeding which terminated on the eight week. Broiler ducks in the control and experimental lots attained an average final weight of 1,392.5 and 1,553.3 grams and an average gain in weight of 319.31 and 340.75 grams respectively. The difference in the average final weight of 160.8 grams between the control and the experimental birds was found to be significant. The average feed intake in lots I and II were 4023.82 and 5,144.98 grams respectively, 108 grams of skim milk and 560 grams of soluble vitamins were added to the feeds given to birds in lot II. The experimental lot has greater feed consumption than the control with a total feed cost of Y205.79 and P404.85 in lots I and II respectively. The rate of mortality in the control group was 20 percent; there was no mortality in the experimental group. The experimental group had better feed efficiency than the control group which registered 3.57 and 3.IG respectively. | |
