520 3 _aMarquez, Melencia A. "Some Factors Associated with Management Practices of Beef Cattle Production". B.S. Thesis, MAC, Indang, Cavite, March, 1980. This study was aimed primarily to: (1) know the socio-economic characteristics of beef producers; (2) know the management practices employed in beef cattle production, (3) determine the problems met by beef producers in Cavite, (4) determine the relationship between management practices and selected variables. This study covered the seven municipalities of Cavite, from which 100 farmers were selected and interviewed. The average age of the farmer was 48 years. The intermediate level was the average educational attainment of the farmers. The respondents had an average farming experience of 15 years. Sixty four percent of the farmers answered for the sole proprietorship type of business organization. Thirty six were on the partnership type, sixty eight percent were owner operators, twenty nine were tenants and only three were farm managers. The most common form of financing beef cattle project was from family income (53M. Twenty four percent of the farmers borrowed money from friends and relatives and the others from private lender and from the government. The most frequently mentioned problems of the farmers were the unavailability of pasture areas, veterinary assistance and capital. Some of them found difficulties in marketing beef cows; others were afraid from rustlers. On the other hand, age, educational attainment, capital and size of project did not affect the efficiency of management practices. Only farmers' experience in beef cattle farming and pasture location were associated to management practices of beef cattle production.
