Bachelor of Agricultural Entrepreneurship, Major in Crop Production, Cavite State University, Cavite Philippines. November 2011. Adviser: Prof Eulogia M. Alano. This entrepreneurial project was conducted at the Farmer's Training and Demonstration Center, Cavite State University Main Campus from August to October 2011. The project aimed to enhance knowledge of the student in crop production. Other objectives were to determine cost and return of growing the crops and develop skills in handling a crop production enterprise. A total of 200 m was prepared for the project. The activities performed were clearing, tractor plowing and construction of ten plots which measured 10 m x 1.2 m each. Bush sitao var. BS 3 seeds were first sown on seed tray and then transplanted on the prepared plot five days after germination. The distance of planting bush sitao was 100 cm in rows and 50 cm per plant. In between rows of bush sitao, seeds of radish plants (variety speedy) were directly sown in a double row arrangement with plant spacing of 25 cm apart. The total cost of the project was Php 4,845.65. This included cost of the materials amounting to PhP 1,357.80. Other production inputs were cost of the labor with a value of PhP 3, 150 and other expenses recorded as PhP 337.85. The interplanting of radish and bush sitao was proven profitable. Such 200 square meter farm lot yielded to a total of 88 kg marketable sitao pods and 160 kg edible radish roots. The gross sales from bush sitao was PhP 3,520.00 and PhP 9,600.00 for radish with a total value of PhP 13, 120.00. The net income obtained was PhP 8, 274.35. The return on investment was computed as 170.75%.
