Dr. Celso S. Crucido and Prof. Dulce T.. Ramos, Advisers. This study was conducted from April to October 2000 in the Plantation Nursery of the Crop Science Department, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to determine the effect of different concentration of Indole Butyric Acid (IBA) on marcotting of lychee and to determine the best concentration of IBA on marcotting of lychee. Five uniform bearing fruit lychee were selected and used as mother plant in this study. About 10 uniform stems with a diameter of at least 4 to 6 centimeters were selected, A Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used in this study. There were four treatments each replicated four times. The different treatments are as follows: T; - (control), T, - (100 ppm IBA), T; - (200 ppm IBA) and T, - (300 ppm IBA). Results showed that different concentration of IBA affect all the parameters tested in this study. Treatment 4 (300 ppm) gave the best result in terms of number of days from marcotting to callus formation, number of days from callus formation to root initiation, number of roots, length of roots and number of days from marcotting to harvest, It was also noted that there were significant differences among the different concentrations of IBA and the control treatment. | |
