Undergraduate Thesis.Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Financial Management.CaviteStateUniversity, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Ms. Iluminada R. Hernandez. A study was conducted to determine the working capital management practices of fitness centers in selected areas of Cavite. Specifically, the study described the demographic profile of managers in fitness centers, determined the practices of fitness centers with regard to managing their cash flows, determined the techniques that fitness centers used in managing their accounts receivables and account payables, determined the practices of fitness centers on inventory management with respect to working capital management and assessed the relationship between the demographic profile of managers and the working capital management practices of fitness centers in selected areas of Cavite. Descriptive-correlational research design was used in this study. Participants of the study were 90 managers of different fitness centers in nine selected areas of Cavite. Findings showed that most managers of fitness centers in selected areas of Cavite were young, married, and educated. There was no gender preference for managers of fitness centers since there was relatively equal distribution of male and female managers. Test statistics showedthat there were some specific demographic factors of managers that significantly influenced the working capital management practices in fitness centers in selected areas of Cavite. Findings revealed that the older the age of managers of fitness centers, the more likely to set cash target in advance for the business, following a re-order level policy for requesting stock or materials and having a purchase order (PO) approved by the management for every purchase made as compared to younger age managers. With regard to the influence of education, managers with bachelor’s degree were more likely to use short-term funds of the business for long-term investment while managers with graduate degree occasionally employed this practice. In addition, managers with graduate degree were more likely to source its fitness supplies and materials both from local and foreign manufacturers/dealers as compared to managers with bachelor’s degree. | |
