520 3 _a JAVATE, ZHAYANNE CHELZY M. Enrolment Trend and Profile of International Undergraduate Students in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, Philippines. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in International Studies. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Thesis Adviser: Dr. Marietta C. Mojica The study aimed to: 1) determine the enrolment trend of international undergraduate students in Cavite State University (CvSU) from 2008-2015; 2) describe the profile of international undergraduate students; 3) determine the various aspects considered by international undergraduate students in deciding to study overseas, and in CvSU; and 4) determine the respondents' sources of information about CvSU. Descriptive method was used in the study_ A total number of 60 international undergraduate students (HIS) in CvSU were interviewed. A survey questionnaire was used to gather the data. The statistical treatment applied were frequency count, mean, percentage, standard deviation and a single-year growth rate percentage formula for growth rate. This study was conducted at CvSU, Indang, Cavite from November 2014 to January 2015. The participants were composed of African, Asians, and from the Pacific. Study of IUS enrolment trend covered seven academic years from 2008 to 2015 with a total 384 IUS during the first semester, and 367 during the second semester. The peak number of IUS enrolees was in Year 5 (Y5), (AY 2012-2013) with average of 92. The lowest number of IUS was observed in Y1 (AY 2008-2009) an average of 15. Sex distribution of the IUS indicated big disparity of enrolees between male and female. Many of the IUS belonged to the College of Engineering and Information Technology and College of Economics, Management, and Development Studies. From Year 3 to Year 7, international undergraduate students (IUS} were dominated by those coming from the Pacific, particularly from Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea; and African countries such as Angola, Ghana, Nigeria, and Tanzania. Overall, there was a sudden decrease of IUS enrolment from Year 5 down to the last two academic years (AY 2013-2014 and AY 2014-2015). Participants of the study were mostly from Africa and the Pacific; majority were living off-campus; belonging to age bracket of 19 to 26 years; mostly males; Christians and Adventists; with average of six family members, whose fathers and mothers were mostly professionals and with average annual family income of P1,776,986.20. Majority of the IUS were irregular students, enrolled from one to four semesters already; stayed in the Philippines and the university for more than 25 months, many were not involved in any organization, and studied mostly through families' support. Most of the IUS can understand, speak, read, and write English well but most cannot understand, speak, read, and write in Filipino. Highly considered for studying abroad were: language of host country; safety in the country of program; interest in the course work available; place to stay; and program cost. "Highly considered" in the selection of Cavite State University were safety in the country of program; language of host country; and place to stay. Participants' sources of information about CvSU are through friends, academic adviser, their family member, former CvSU students, professor, and CvSU website.
