This study was conducted to determine the perception of senior citizens and persons with disability on the effectiveness of social services in Dasmarinas City, Cavite.
The study aimed to determine the perception of social services by the senior citizens and persons with disability, the present social services and the effectiveness of social services given by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) -— Dasmarinas City, Cavite.
This study utilized descriptive evaluative study method, using personal interview with the 16 participants and focus group discussion for data gathering. The participants of
this study were the Officer-In-Charge of the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) and Persons with Disability Affairs of the City Social Welfare and Development Office
(CSWDO) — Dasmarinas City, Cavite and eight participants per Senior Citizens and Persons with disability.
The study found out that the social services given by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) -— Dasmarinas are effective because it shows that the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) together with their mayor and congressman implemented a program for the Senior Citizens and persons with Disability. The participants reported the following programs implemented to senior citizens: exercises every saturday, birthday cash gift, make over, ballroom dancing, free movies and bingo social recreation. And for the persons with disability: Christmas party, Gift giving, DAMAYAN (For burial), Medical and Dental check- up, Bazaar and Sportfest.
They received social services based on the laws that can help them sustain their needs especially the privileges they had received which are 20% discount on fare, food, medicines and the member of Philhealth for them with the 12% VAT exempted which the Republic Act 10465 as lifetime members passed and signed by President Aquino last November 12, 2015. With this, it shows that the social services that are given to them help them provide their necessary support and encourage them to live as important citizen in the society.
