This study was conducted to determine the financial socialization and financial risk tolerance of student assistants in selected universities of Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the following: demographic profiles of student assistants in selected universities in Cavite; financial socialization of student assistants in terms of discussion with parents and discussion with peers in selected universities in Cavite; financial risk tolerance of student assistants in selected universities in Cavite; relationship between the demographic profile and the financial socialization of student assistants in selected universities in Cavite; relationship of demographic profiles and the financial risk tolerance of student assistants in selected universities in Cavite; relationship of financial socialization and financial risk tolerance of student assistants in selected universities in Cavite.

The participants of the study were 200 student assistants in selected universities in Cavite particularly: Cavite State University-Main Campus, De La Salle University- Dasmarinas, and Far Eastern University-Silang.

A three-part questionnaire was utilized to gather the data from the participants. The demographic profile of student assistants was determined by descriptive statistics such as mean, frequency, range, and percentage. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Point Bi-serial correlation was used to determine the relationship between the demographic profile and financial socialization, relationship between the demographic profile and financial risk tolerance, and relationship between the financial socialization and the financial risk tolerance.

The demographic profile such as age and years in service to the financial socialization of student assistants in terms of discussion with parents has no significant relationship but in terms of gender, a significant relationship was found. Moreover, no significant relationship between the demographic profiles and the financial socialization in terms of discussion with peers of student assistants was found.

The demographic profiles and the financial risk tolerance of student assistants had no significant relationship. No relationship was found between the financial socialization and financial risk tolerance of student assistants. This would indicate that it is important to parents to actually talk with their children about money and not just demonstrate positive behavior.
