Treatment on Crime Reports of Pilipino Star Ngayon and its Compliance to the Guidelines Presented on the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility Ethics Manual. Undergraduate Thesis. The study was conducted from October to December 2016. The researchers used descriptive research in the study. Content analysis was also explored to look at crime reports of P SN that involved women and minors in selected articles of Pilipino Star Ngayon, to further determine how their crime reports were presented and if they followed the guidelines of Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility. Specifically, the study aimed to: identify Pilipino Star Ngayon 's presentation of their crime reports that involved women and children in terms of headline, lead, and content; and identify the compliance of crime reports of PSN to the guidelines presented on CMFR Manual. For three months, the researchers read the newspaper and were able to gather I l I articles. These articles of crime reports involved either women, children or both.
Of I I l articles, the researchers found out that most headlines were in bar-lines. On the other hand, majority Of the leads were found to be summary lead. In terms of
content, most articles were about violent crimes. The researchers also found out that these articles complied to most of the guidelines but fewer number complied to the 4th and 5 th guidelines telling that minors should not be named and any information that could lead to them should not be divulged. Not all articles complied to the 4th guideline which states:
Do not name minors, whether as crime victims or as suspects; and more than half of thearticles complied to the fifth guideline which states: Do not divulge their addresses, their parents ' names or any other information that can identify them.
