This study was conducted to determine the common bullying experiences of homosexual and heterosexual students according to physical bullying, verbal bullying and social bullying. Specifically, it aimed to find out the psychological well-being of homosexual and heterosexual students in terms of autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance. Also, it determined if there is a significant relationship between bullying experiences and psychological well-being among grade 7 students of selected public high schools, and, if there is a significant difference in the bullying experiences and psychological well-being among the homosexual and heterosexual grade 7 students in selected public high schools in Cavite. A comparative-correlation design was used in the study making use of Katanungan Para Sa Kasarian, Gatehouse Bullying Scale, Multi-Dimensional Peer Victimization Scale and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being as research instruments. The participants were 494 homosexual and heterosexual grade 7 students from selected public high schools in District VII, Cavite. Frequency counts, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson Correlation and T-test were the statistical measures employed to analyze the data.
The findings revealed that there is no significant difference between the psychological well-being of homosexual and heterosexual Grade 7 students who experienced bullying physically, verbally and socially. However, a significant relationship was identified between the psychological well-being and bullying experiences of homosexual and heterosexual grade 7 students who experienced bullying in terms of autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance.
