This study was conducted to evaluate the status and effects of Agricultural Insurance in the top five rice producing regions Philippines. First, it aims to identify the different agricultural insurance offered in the Philippines. The study also identifies the different factors that affect the production. The study also determines the status of production in the Philippines and identifies the nature on how to grant Agricultural Insurance.
The main purpose of this study is to provide essential information about the Agricultural Insurance that focus on how it affects the production of rice in the Philippines. The study used the descriptive-causal approach and all the data were gathered from the statistical reports of national organizations namely: Philippine Crop
Insurance Corporation, Department of Agriculture and Philippine Stocks Authority. These data were carefully checked and analyzed using panel data. Through this study, the researchers were able to determine the effect of Agricultural Insurance in rice production in the Philippines. It is also found out that there is a significant relationship of production to capital and land.
There are 7 different agricultural insurance in the Philippines offered b Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation. These insurance are Corn Crop Insurance, Credit and Life Term Insurance, Fisheries Insurance, High-Value Crop Insurance, Livestock insurance, Non-Agricultural Asset Insurance, and Rice Crop Insurance.
The result of Panel Regression in Fixed Effect Model showed that land area and capital had significant relationship to the rice production of the top five rice producing regions in the Philippines. Land area had positive relationship to the rice production, however capital had negative relationship. Insured farmers or labor in this study were statistically insignificant.
