This study determined the relationship of social and self-acceptance to the self-esteem level of inmates at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Imus
Specifically, it aimed: 1 to identify the level of perceived social acceptance of inmates at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Imus; 2) to identify the level of perceived social self-acceptance of inmates at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Imus; 3) to identify the level of self-esteem of inmates at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Imus; 4) to know the relationship between social acceptance and self-esteem of inmates at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Imus and; 5) to know the relationship between self-acceptance and self-esteem of inmates at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Imus;
It was descriptive it involved 176 participants comprising 154 males and 22 females, out of the total of population 315 of inmates.
Two hypotheses were tested at the 0.05 level of significance using Spearman's rho. Self-made questionnaire and a rating scale were used to collect data for the study. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between social-acceptance and self-esteem level of inmates in Bureau of Jail Management and Penology- Imus. Therefore there is no significant relationship between self-acceptance and self-esteem level of inmates in Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Imus.
