The general objective of the study was the design and construction of a temperature and humidity control system for an animal isolation chamber. Specifically, it aimed to (1) design and fabricate the isolation chamber. It also aimed to design and construct Arduino-based circuit; (2) to develop a program for the device and test and evaluate the performance of the system; and, (3) it aimed to conduct a cost computation. The design project was composed of an Arduino Mega 2560 which serves as the microcontroller unit, Two (2) 850W hair dryer that serve as the heating elements of the chamber, a 0.6Hp air conditioner unit that serves as the cooling element of the chamber, a humidifier unit for maintaining the humidity inside the chamber, the temperature and humidity sensor for the sensing of temperature and humidity inside the chamber, and the gas sensor to sense the amount of carbon dioxide present inside the chamber. The microcontroller gives the output signal LCD Display. The LCD Display displays the parameters sensed by the temperature and humidity sensor and by the gas sensor. It also has two 12V, 80W radiator fans that act as circulatory fans for the system. The unit was tested by the researchers. The project testing was done at the Physical — Planning Services (PPS) compound, Cavite State University (CvSU), Indang, Cavite. Data were gathered by the data-logging function of the system.
Based on the results of the evaluation, the project met the given objectives. The system was able to attain the parameters that were set by the user. The device was also able to prove its functionality, usability, correctness, control, and reliability. Technical evaluation showed that the device was able to function correctly when a digital hygrometer was put inside the device and compare the output of the device and the hygrometer.
