This study was analyze the conducted primarily to supply of pineapple in the Philippines. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) describe and present the status of the supply of fresh and processed pineapple in the export market; (2) ascertain the regional contribution of pineapple in terms of production and area planted; (3) describe the different government policies affecting the pineapple industry; and (4) identify the factors affecting the supply of pineapple in the Philippines. ABSTRACT Secondary data were used in the study to analyze supply of pineapple in the Philippines.
Multiple Linear and was used to explain Regression Analysis analyze the data. The period covered in the analysis was from 1976 to 1995. Results showed that only the price of papaya showed supply of significant pineapple found that the regression line has a good fit with R2 value of 0.91 which means that 91 percent of the total variation in supply of pineapple can be explained by the explanatory such as price of pineapple, price relationship ≤ 0.05). It with was also the papaya, variables price of banana, price of fertilizer, farm wage rate, frequency of tropical cyclones, and government policy which are included in the model.
The F value was also significant at five percent level (p < 0.05) which implies that the combination of the explanatory variables included in the model affects the supply of pineapple. (P 0.05) For the area response function, findings showed that all independent variables were not significant at five percent level (p ≥ 0.05). However, the regression line has a good fit with a computed r-squared value of .73621. The F significant at five percent level was which means that price of pineapple, price of papaya, of banana, price of fertilizer, farm wage rate, annual frequency of tropical cyclones, government policy and supply of pineapple affect the area utilized price value production. Moreover, pineapple. it supply of price.
The pineapple is inelastic with regards to its own obtained elasticity of pineapple has a value of -0.20 means that the producers of pineapple are less responsive to cross in price of pineapple. Similarly, the changes. price elasticity of pineapple with respect to the prices of papaya and banana is inalastic, with values of 0.58 and 0.15, respectively. The positive elasticities indicate papaya and banana are substitute or competing crops with pineapple.
Finally, the government should create an institution that will guide and assist the farmers and producers in order to protect the industry from the implementation of slowing the different government programs expansion of the production of the fruit. In addition, the government must provide a working policy which will be used as guidelines by those who will work in the said institution.
