ASTUDILLO, RUMINA G. Don Severino Agricultural College, March 1987. Effect of Internship Training Program on Student Outreach Agents of Don Severino Agri- cultural College. Adviser: Mrs. Eugenia Matel.
This study was conducted mainly to determine the effect of internship training program on student outreach agents of the Don Severino Agricultural College. There were 37 respondents representing 86.04 per- cent of the total enumeration of the 1980-1981 graduates of the internship program. The study found that majority of the respondents are females, single and belong to the age bracket 24-29 years old. Majority are employed in teaching and has income ranging from 76,500 to 12,600 per year. All of the respondents consider student intern- ship as an important part of the curriculum. Majority of the respondents believe that student internship helped them in securing their present jobs. Similarly, all res- ponded that internship training is important in their present jobs. Also, majority said that their experiences in their internship are helping them in their present jobs. There is a significant relationship between over- all performance on internship and income. The higher the over-all performance on internship, the higher the income. There is also significant relationship between the over- all performance and employment status. Very few of those who are employed had difficulties in applying for jobs. Some have problems in their present jobs. The number one problem mentioned was instability of their present position. Some suggestions on how to improve the student internship program in the college includes: inclusion of both crop and animal projects, financial assistance, early release of funds for the projects and better coordination among advisers, SOAS, farmer-cooperators and rural people
