The experiment was conducted in the Research Laboratory of the Department of Crop Protection from December 1998 to February 1999. This study has the following objectives: to determine effectiveness of selected botanical plants against mound building termites and to determine the most effective concentration of the most effective botanical plant.

The result of the experiment revealed that among the five botanicals evaluated, madre de cacao was found to be the most effective in killing mound building termites. It was followed by neem, lagundi, lantana and psychic nut. Moreover, 75 percent water extract from madre de cacao leaves can kill 100 percent of the test insects 12 hours after treatment application. Hence, madre de cacao has very high insecticidal potential against mound building termites. All botanical _ plants tested did not show knockdown effect on the test insect.
