SULINO, MARYLN ROSE S. and RONNEL B. TACUD Development of Student Record and Information System for Cavite State University Child Development Center. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Ms. Lydia D. Perido.
The study was conducted from July 2017 to March 2018 at Cavite State University Child Development Center (CvSU-CDC) and Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to develop a Student Information System (SIS) for CvSU-CDC. Specifically, it aimed to: identify the problems encountered and analyze the requirements needed to solve the identified problem through fishbone diagram; create a student profile module that can easily manage the record of the student information; create a report module that can quickly generate the updated reports; develop a student information system using Adobe Photoshop CS6 for the graphic design, VB.NET for the coding, and MySQL for the database; and evaluate the functionality of the system through unit and acceptance testing for further adjustments. Moreover, the system was built to provide efficient information to enable fast processing of data with accuracy of result generated. Iterative software development methodology was used to develop the system which includes six phases namely: requirement phase; analysis and design phase; implementation phase; testing phase; development phase; and evaluation phase. The system has three levels of access: administrator, faculty, and guidance counselor. Furthermore, the system has the capability to automate sectioning and uploading of grades. The system consists of four modules: account management module; student profile module; section module; and report generation module. The system was evaluated by the participants- based on the following criteria: functionality; reliability; usability; efficiency; maintainability; and portability. Evaluators were composed of 20 faculty member from CvSU-CDC and ten IT experts from the Department of Information Technology (DIT), in CvSU, Indang, Cavite. The system passed all the criteria and met all the requirements and objectives.
