MENDOZA, MYLENE H. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2000. "Resource Productivity Estimates For Peanut Farms in Selected Towns of Cavite". Adviser: Dr. Nelia C. Cresino.
This study was conducted primarily to evaluate the resource productivity estimates for peanut farms in Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) describe the socio-economic characteristics of peanut farmers; (2) determine the level of resources use and productivity of small and large farms; (3) assess the efficiency of resource use; and (4) identify problems encountered by the peanut farmers. Small farms constituted 56 percent of all farms and had an average of 0.59 hectare. Large farms had an average of 1.51 hectares. Most of the farmers operate relatively small farms. Small farms produced higher yield than large farms, in per hectare. Production function estimates showed that the variable inputs such as size of the farm and man-labor significantly affect the yield of the farms in different farm groups. However, man-labor was found out to be not significant at five percent level in the all farm groups. Peanut farming in Cavite showed increasing returns to scale for all farms.
