Research study (General Science Curriculum). Science High School, College of Education, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Mr. Joselito A. Flores Jr.
The study entitled “Evaluation of Small-Scale Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Charging System Located at the Open Fields of Cavite State University” was conducted for the purpose of determining the charging capacity of the wind turbines, the effects of time and location on it and the significant difference on the charging capacity of the turbines placed in each location.
Three identical wind turbines were constructed and placed at three different open fields: the open field near Cavite State University (CvSU) Laboratory Science High School, open field in CvSU Oval, and the open field in the CvSU Integrated Farm. Every hour, the charging capacity or the three wind turbines were measured in terms of voltage and current. Experimental method and a digital multimeter were used for collecting data.
The results of the study showed that the best location is the open field at the CvsU Oval (Location 2) and the most effective time is from. 1:01 p.m to 4 pm since the), had the highest voltage and current for two days which are day one and two. It also showed that the gathered voltage and current were sufficient to charge the 1.2V NiMH battery slowly.
