DIMARANAN, RAYMUND L. Applied Research IV (Agri—Science Curriculum) Don Severino Agricultural College Indang, Cavite March 1988, "GROWTH RESPONSE OF BLACK PEPPER CUTTINGS TO DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF IBA AND SYSTEMS PLANTING"ADVISER: MR. EPIFANIO H. FERAER
This study, "Growth Response of Black Pepper Cuttings to Different Concentrations of IBA and Systems of Planting" was conducted at Población Indang, Cavite from July 1987 to November 1987 to determine which concentration and system of planting is the best in the propagation of black pepper cuttings.
The rooting hormone was produced by pouring 2.5 ml. IBA tablespoon IBA), 5 ml. IBA (1 tablespoon IBA), and 7.5 ml. IBA (1% tablespoon IBA) on 270 ml. H20, to form the different C Concentrations, each cutting was formed depending upon the system used as: straight, rolled, and bended before it was soaked to its corresponding concentration. Four (4) main— plots and three subplots with three replications were employed. The findings in general, showed that the best concentration was 7.5 ml 0 IBA (1% tablespoon IBA) per 270 ml. H20 using rolled system of planting, since it showed the best results in all the parameters like number of roots, length of roots, number of days from planting to shoot formation, number of shoots and percentage survival. The poorest result, however, was obtained in the control using straight system of planting cuttings.Based from the results obtained in this study, the use of IBA is therefore recommended as well as the use of rolled system of planting to have the best results.
