The study was conducted at the Cavite State University Indang, Cavite from January to March 2002 to analyze the content of Pag-ibig, Buhay at Pamilya, a daily column of the Bulgar tabloid newspaper, January 2002 issue. It aimed to identify the articles that promote Filipino values; to determine the Filipino values promoted; to determine the extent of promotion of Filipino values and to describe and interpret the characteristics of the recorded or visual messages in terms of font size, font type and lead. Gathered data were scanned and tabulated thematically. The Filipino values were identified in the selected articles of Pag-ibig, Buhay at Pamilya, including their extent of promotion. The recorded or visual messages in terms of font type, font size and lead used in the articles were described and interpreted.

The study showed 28 articles in the column Pag-ibig, at Buhay at Pamilya that promoted Filipino values. In terms of values promoted, Respect was fully promoted by the five articles. The least promoted values Honesty, Self-Confidence, Adaptability, Courage, Understanding, Hard Work, Faith, Knowledge and Love having one value per article.

Filipino values were moderately promoted by the January 1-28, 2002 issues of Bulgar’s Pag-ibig, Buhay at Pamilya. The most commonly used font type was Times New Roman as shown in seven articles; Font size 36 for titles of articles and font sizes 11 and 10 for the text. Almost all articles used suggestion lead.
