The backyard hog fattening enterprise was a sole proprietorship type of business owned by Louis Neil Salamat (Appendix Figure 1). He was responsible in all the production management, financial aspect, and marketing of the hogs. The hog fattening enterprise was conducted at Barangay Pajo, Alfonso, Cavite (Figure 1) from December 8, 2018 to April 4, 2019. The four weanlings used in the production were bought at Barangay Marahan, Alfonso, Cavite. The weanlings had an initial average weight of 16.75 kg. After 117 days of rearing, the hogs attained an average final weight of 96.25 kg. The hogs registered a gain in weight of 79.5 kg; an average daily gain of 679.49 g; and a feed conversion efficiency of 2.52. The student entrepreneur sold the four hogs to a hog trader in Alfonso for the price of P 125 per kilogram live weight. The student entrepreneur gained a net income of P 6,919.1 and a return on investment (ROI) of 14.25 percent.
