The experiment was conducted to find out the in- fluence of dried ipil-ipil on the growth and development of four selected sweet potato cultivars, namely: I-423, VSP-2, BNAS-5] and VSP-1. All varieties studied showed positive response to increasing amounts of applied ipil-ipil leaves. As the level of ipil-ipil increases from 5 tons to 20 tons per hectare, a corresponding increase in tuber length, diameter and yield was obtained.

Ipil-ipil leaves were more vigorous and sound compared to control plants without ipil-ipil. This result was attributed to the ability of the plants with ipil-ipil to conserve moisture longer than the control plots. This experiment was conducted under a very limited supply of water.

The most promising cultivars of sweet potato in response to varying rates of ipil-ipil applied are I-423 and VSP-2.
