JOIELYN ROLDAN DIGMA. “Distribution System of Alpinia Flower Farm, Inc.”- Marahan, Alfonso, Cavite. Undergraduate Case Study, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Major in Economics. Cavite State University. April 2001. Adviser: Dr. Antonio G. Papa.

A case study was conducted at Alpinia Flower Farm, Inc., in Marahan, Alfonso, Cavite fiom November 1999 to January 2000 with the following objectives: to analyze the distribution system practiced by the Alpinia Flower Farm, Inc.; to determine the distribution strategies of the firm; and to identify problems encountered by the firm with regard to its distribution system Information were obtained through personal interviews with the manager and employees. Other information were obtained from office records and files.

Descriptive method was used in analyzing the data regarding the distribution system of AFFI. Frequency count and percentage were employed to determine the channel members involved in the distribution of AF FI products and to identify the number of AFFI products that passed through each channel members.

The channel of distribution was well-coordinated since there was a good and harmonious relationship between AFFI and each channel members. With regards to the location of the market, the firm concentrated only on the local market. Pricing of the products met the consumer’s budget expectations with the quality they want in flowers. The storage facility used for the harvested flowers was constructed beside the AFFI manager’s office.

One of the major problems encountered by the firm in the distribution system was the seasonal production of the flower products. To solve the problem, the firm should find an altemative products such as other flowering plants that will command good price.

Another problem encountered in terms of organization and management-the resignation of workers. To remedy the problem, the management should increase the salary or either ofi‘er other benefits to motivate the workers. The firm and its distributor have a good relationship. It is suggested that the firm should maintain a good relationship with each channel members.
