The general objective of the study was to find out the status of ubi production in the upland towns of Cavite, with emphasis on its profitability. Specifically, the study aimed to: a) determine the socio-economic characteristics of ubi growers in upland towns of Cavite; b) determine the level of production as well as the cost and returns of producing ubi; c) find out the contribution of ubi to total farm income; d) determine the relationship between profitability and some selected variables; and e) Know the production and marketing problems encountered by ubi farmers.

The study was conducted in five selected towns of Upland Cavite, namely: Alfonso, Amadeo, Indang, Mendez, and Silang where increasing number of ubi producers are found. Seventy five ubi producers were selected through simple random sampling.

The study revealed that the average age of the farmers was 47. Majority of them had finished elementary education. The average number of dependents was five while the average number of earning flamily members was a. Most of them owned the land they tilled. The average number of farming experience was 17.57 years and the average size of the farm To improve the production of ubi in Cavite, the government should extend help to the farmers by providing them with high quality planting materials, and by disseminating information on how to prevent or minimize the occurrence of ubi pest and diseases. Likewise, farmers should increase up to a certain extent the land area devoted to the crop so as to increase ubi production in the province.
